This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the emerging field of health and wellbeing. The course explores strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people. It looks at the issues surrounding childhood obesity including contributory factors. It focuses on the delivery of activities that are suitable to include in an intervention and prevention program for overweight and obese children.
The course is designed to develop the leadership skills needed to deliver health and wellbeing sessions to children. It explores a wide range of appropriate activities used to increase the nutritional knowledge and motivate them to become more physically active. The course also focuses on how to increase self-esteem and confidence and looks at strategies to encourage children to change their lifestyle to a healthier one.
Individuals will gain an understanding of how to support children and their families in their journey to control and maintain a healthy weight.
Who is it for?
This qualification is appropriate for individuals who are interested in working with children and young people and helping them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. They may already be active in a number of roles associated with this line of work such as health and wellbeing advocates, wellbeing champion and community workers.
The qualification will enable individuals to assist or lead a health and well-being program for children and young people. Learners will be able to support them in recognising factors that affect their health and wellbeing as well as empowering them to make a change in their lifestyle.
